Donor relationships are invaluable to your pregnancy center’s work. You need them to keep your center running and serve women facing a life-or-death decision for their pre-born children.
How can you build, strengthen, and maintain your donor relationships? We’ll share four tips for pregnancy centers to improve donor relationships and maximize your center’s impact.
Tip 1. Get to Know Your Top Donors Personally
How acquainted are you with your current donors? Could you pick them out from a crowd?
You should know the names and faces of your major donors and any ongoing donors who attend your pregnancy center’s banquet or events each year. These are your most valuable, committed donors who believe in your mission and want to see you succeed and save lives.
Stay in contact with these donors and ensure you know what’s happening in their lives. Did they recently have surgery? Send them a card. Is it graduation season? Congratulate them on a child’s or grandchild’s graduation. Invest in knowing about the things that matter to them.
They are the reason you can do your incredible work and are most likely to continue giving to your mission.
Tip 2. Send Regular Emails and/or Digital Newsletters
Your donors are invested in your mission. They want to hear from you.
Set up a regular schedule for your emails and newsletters. They will learn when to expect your messages and even look forward to seeing them. You can include mission updates, a tally of life decisions, testimonies, stories, and other important content that makes them feel they are in the know.
While asking for ongoing, recurring donations or giving to specific campaigns is essential, try to mix your intentional appeals for donations with regular updates and engaging content.
Keeping donors in the loop will help them remember you during highly competitive times of year, such as the holiday giving season and Sanctity of Human Life month.
Tip 3. Invest in Donor Outreach through Social Media
Maintaining a following on your donor social media has some of the same effects as your regular email or newsletters, but you can’t share as much. Because it’s a public platform, you may dial back some of your communication details and instead focus on outreach.
Create a social media page that is engaging, inspirational, and features plenty of content that donors will want to share on their pages. This will help you reach your donors’ friends and family, which can include like-minded people who could become donors themselves.
Tip 4. Utilize the Power of Video
Video is a powerful tool for reaching donors and clients. Emotional videos tell stories, move hearts, and change minds. Check out our variety of donor videos for events, holidays, and general fundraising. These videos will help draw donors closer to your cause and motivate them to click “give now.”
Videos will remind them why they support you and how necessary their donations are for saving lives and serving women in your community.
